Active ingredient
Bromethalin
Neurotoxicant rodenticide
A rodenticide, sold for moles in a bait shaped and scented as an artificial earthworm rather than as grain.
What it does
Works on the animal it is formulated for. The worm shape matters because moles are insectivores โ a grain bait is the wrong food for them, which is why grain baits sold for moles routinely fail.
What it does not do
It does nothing about the cause. Moles are in the lawn for the invertebrates in it, and grub control is not mole control โ the two are separate problems with separate answers.
The label constraint people miss
This is a vertebrate poison with secondary-exposure risk to pets and non-target wildlife. Placement is in an active tunnel rather than broadcast, and one state in our data prohibits the trapping alternative outright, which changes the options rather than the caution.
Products we review that contain it
Every product below is here because we opened its label โ on EPA's own database or the registrant's โ and read Bromethalin in the ingredient statement. Registration numbers are on each product's page.

Zinc Phosphide Grain Bait

Refillable Rodent Bait Station
Tomcat Mouse Killer Refillable Station with 16 Bait Blocks

Guides that use Bromethalin
Buy for the active, then read the label anyway. Two products with the same active are not interchangeable โ concentration, labelled sites and species tolerances all vary, and a three-part registration number means a narrowed label. How to read one in two minutes. Where our page and your container disagree, the container is the legal authority.
