How the Lawn Health Analyzer works
Most lawn problems are misdiagnosed, and the cost of guessing is real: fungicide does nothing for grub damage, insecticide does nothing for drought, and treating the wrong cause wastes a season. This assessment works the way a diagnostic key in an extension publication works — it narrows possibilities by asking about the features that actually separate one condition from another.

What it does not do
It does not analyze your photograph. There is no image recognition, machine learning or computer vision anywhere in this tool, and your photo never leaves your browser. It is also not a laboratory diagnosis — only a physical turf sample examined by a diagnostic clinic can confirm a pathogen with certainty. Most state cooperative extension services offer that for a modest fee, and the report tells you when it's worth doing.
Why we tell you when we're unsure
Several turf problems look nearly identical in their early stages. When your reported symptoms fit more than one condition, this tool shows you the alternatives and what would distinguish them, instead of manufacturing a confident-sounding answer. A guess dressed up as a diagnosis is worse than no diagnosis, because you act on it.
