How to Fix Bare Spots in a Lawn — Or Leave Them
A bare spot smaller than your fist closes on its own. The bigger ones are a symptom — and the shape of the spot tells you which cause to fix first.

The same three-part idea as EZ Seed at a lower price, with a simpler mulch — which is the whole difference.
Seed, mulch and fertilizer for bare spots, and the honest comparison with its more expensive sibling is narrow: EZ Seed's selling point is a mulch engineered to swell and hold water around the seed, and this is the version without that. If you can water little and often — the top half-inch kept damp, two or three times a day in warm weather — the difference between them mostly disappears, because you are supplying by hand what the premium mulch supplies by chemistry. If you cannot, the premium buys you margin for error. Everything else applies equally to both: neither addresses why the spot went bare, and a patch over a buried rock, a drainage problem or deep shade fails again regardless of which bag you bought. Diagnose first, then choose based on how reliably you will be there to water.
