✅ A favor

What we found when we read it

Specimen label read 2026-08-02 on the registrant's own site. Bifenthrin 7.9% confirmed, 'Contains 2/3 pound active ingredient per gallon', cis isomers 97% minimum. EPA Reg. No. 91234-145. Labelled for lawns and landscapes, outside perimeter treatments and interior use — a wide site list, so check the specific site before applying rather than assuming the turf rate. STATE RESTRICTION found on the label and it is narrower than it first looks: a dagger footnote reading 'Not for use in California.' is attached to ONE pest in the outdoor pest list — Japanese Beetles — not to the product as a whole. Recorded as a California state_note. The three articles that card this product (armyworms-and-sod-webworms, chinch-bugs-in-lawns, fire-ants-in-lawns) do not recommend it for Japanese beetles, so no page needed correcting. TICK USE VERIFIED 2026-08-20 from the same specimen label, in the LAWNS AND ORNAMENTALS pest table, which our earlier reading recorded only for turf pests. Ticks are listed at 0.5 to 1.0 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet, and the label names the disease vectors directly: "Ticks (including ticks that may transmit Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever)". Two instructions matter and are easy to get wrong. First: "Make application to the entire area where contact with ticks may occur. Do not make spot treatments." — so the edge-only application people assume is off-label for this pest, and the treated area is far larger than a spot job. Second, the timing is split by species: deer ticks (Ixodes sp.) are treated in late fall and/or early spring for adults on brush and grass above the soil, and in mid to late spring for larvae and nymphs in soil and leaf litter; American dog ticks from mid spring to early fall. Heavy leaf litter or dense ground cover calls for higher spray volumes, and repeat treatments must not be made more often than once per seven days (New York: two weeks, single repeat — recorded as a state_note). MOSQUITO USE VERIFIED 2026-08-20 from the same specimen label, which carries its own Mosquito Control paragraph our earlier readings did not record: "To control mosquitoes around buildings, landscapes, and lawns, dilute 0.33 to 1.0 fl. oz. of Talak 7.9% F per gallon of water and apply at the rate of one gallon of dilution per 1,000 square feet as a general spray." Mosquitoes also appear in the label pest lists for both landscape and perimeter use. Recorded because our mosquitoes-in-yard article argues correctly that larval control beats adult spraying, and had no adulticide carded at all — an honest page needs the option named with its cost, not omitted.

Where this page and the container disagree, the container wins — the label is the legal authority on rates and restrictions. How to read one yourself.

⚖️ One use is excluded here: the label's Japanese beetle listing carries a footnote reading not for use in California. Every other pest on its outdoor list — chinch bugs, sod webworms, armyworms, fire ants — is unaffected, so the product is usable here for the jobs we actually recommend it for.

⚖️ The label carries a New York-only block for outdoor use on lawns and landscaped areas. A 100 foot vegetated buffer must be maintained between the application site and waters of the State — required for all waters except those entirely privately owned with no outlet — and the buffer must be established, well maintained vegetation kept free of channels. New York also overrides the general reapplication interval: a single repeat application only, and no sooner than two weeks after the first, where the rest of the label allows repeats no more often than once per seven days.
