EPA Reg. No. 538-18
Abrimos la etiqueta aceptada de este producto en el propio Pesticide Product Label System de la EPA — la fuente más sólida que existe sobre lo que un producto está registrado para hacer.
Full label read 2026-08-04 on EPA PPLS (accepted 24 March 2025). EPA Reg. 538-18, atrazine 1.293% plus related compounds 0.027% — matches what this record already stated. CORRECTION, and it went the other way from most of ours: the permitted grass list reads 'Bermudagrass, St. Augustinegrass, including Floratam, centipedegrass, zoysiagrass, and carpetgrass lawns ONLY', so bermudagrass is a LABELLED use. Our Georgia and Texas state notes told readers to keep it off bermuda, and when-to-weed-and-feed-lawn.mdx said the same in three places. All corrected 2026-08-04. The nuance that produced the error: this is a MASTER label with bracketed optional text, and a note to the product manager reads 'Bermudagrass may be restricted in the DFU when being sold in Florida. It will be removed from grass use list and included in restrictions.' So a Florida-printed bag prohibits bermuda and a bag printed elsewhere permits it — the grass list is not identical in every state. Injury list on all versions: bahiagrass, bluegrass, fine fescue, bentgrass, ryegrass, tall fescue, dichondra. Other label constraints: maximum two applications per year at 2 lb active ingredient per acre; must be WATERED IN IMMEDIATELY; do not apply during winter dormancy, wait until after the third mowing of the season; do not use under trees, shrubs or bedding plants; not for use in Hawaii, Alaska or the US territories. GROUNDWATER ADVISORY, verbatim: 'Users are advised not to apply Atrazine on sand and loamy soils where the water table (groundwater) is close to the surface and where these soils are very permeable, i.e., well drained.' That is an advisory about groundwater rather than a restriction about waterways, and our Florida note had it as the latter.
Where this page and the container disagree, the container wins — the label is the legal authority on rates and restrictions. How to read one yourself.

Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September, and check every label against centipede before it leaves the shelf
Ventana de aplicación: June through July, inside the same short window everything else happens in. There is no autumn second chance
Ventana de aplicación: March–May and during monsoon flushes; Celsius-type products handle 100°F+ windows
Ventana de aplicación: Bounded by the label's temperature ceiling rather than the calendar — spring treatments finish before the June heat arrives, and nothing selective goes down again until September cools off
Ventana de aplicación: March–May while weeds are young; avoid spraying drought-stressed turf in summer
Ventana de aplicación: May–June and September; high-altitude sun makes stressed turf easy to injure, so spot-treat rather than blanket-spray
Ventana de aplicación: Broadleaf sprays in May–June and again in September, when the weeds are moving sugars to the roots; skip July and August, when a stressed cool-season lawn takes the injury and the weed does not
Ventana de aplicación: April to late May, then September into October. Skip July and August entirely: this is the transition zone, and a stressed tall fescue lawn takes the injury the weed shrugs off
Ventana de aplicación: March–May and October–November; avoid applications above 85°F
⚖️ The correct weed-and-feed for a Florida St. Augustine lawn, with two Florida-specific catches. A bag printed for Florida removes bermudagrass from the permitted grass list, so read the list on the bag rather than assuming. And the label advises against applying atrazine on sand and loamy soils where the water table is close to the surface and the soil is very permeable — which describes much of Florida. Many counties also ban nitrogen June 1 to September 30, narrowing the window further.
Ventana de aplicación: April to early June and September–October; avoid mid-summer sprays on stressed turf
⚖️ Right bag for St. Augustine, centipede and zoysia — and bermuda is on the permitted list too, which we previously said it was not. What rules it out is bahiagrass or any cool-season grass in the mix. On coastal sandy soils, note the label's groundwater advisory about permeable soil with a high water table.
Ventana de aplicación: Year-round where the turf is actively growing, which is most of the time; the constraint is heat and drought stress on the leeward side rather than a dormant season
Ventana de aplicación: Late April into June, then September into October; skip the July and early August heat, which is also when UI's own fertilizer schedule goes quiet
Ventana de aplicación: May–June and September; fall beats creeping charlie best
Ventana de aplicación: October is the most effective month for broadleaf weeds; never apply above 80°F or to drought-stressed turf
Ventana de aplicación: October, and October is most of it — but check the wind and the date against what is happening in the fields, because early-summer growth-regulator drift is a real seasonal risk here and your own spray carries the same way
Ventana de aplicación: April into May and again in September–October; avoid July and August, when a tall fescue lawn here is already at its limit
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; autumn is the knockout window for the wild garlic that defines a Kentucky winter lawn
Ventana de aplicación: March–May and October–November; avoid applications above 85°F and never on drought-stressed St. Augustine
Ventana de aplicación: June, then a narrow late-August to mid-September window. Maine's usable autumn is the shortest in New England
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; autumn is the knockout window for the ground ivy and violet the Piedmont is full of
Ventana de aplicación: A narrow autumn is the real window here: late September into October, after the summer heat and before New England's early frost closes the season
Ventana de aplicación: May–June and September; autumn is the stronger window for perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: Late May–June and September; autumn is the stronger window for perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September, avoiding the midsummer heat restrictions on most labels
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; skip summer sprays on drought-stressed fescue
Ventana de aplicación: June, then late August into September. In a sub-100-day valley there is no third chance
Ventana de aplicación: Late spring and again from late August through September, when perennial broadleaf weeds are moving reserves to the root
Ventana de aplicación: Late May into June, then late August through September. The autumn window closes earlier here than anywhere else in southern New England
Ventana de aplicación: May and September–October; autumn is the knockout window for perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: Spring and early autumn; in the south skip the June heat entirely, and in the north the usable autumn window closes by early October
Ventana de aplicación: May and September–October; autumn is the knockout window for perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; avoid spraying heat-stressed fescue in July–August
Ventana de aplicación: Early to mid-June, then late August into early September. There is no third opportunity
Ventana de aplicación: May–June and September; fall applications hit dandelion taproots hardest
Ventana de aplicación: Judged by wind before season: sustained wind is Oklahoma's normal condition, so the usable spray days are calm mornings in April, May and September rather than whole months
Ventana de aplicación: March–May and September–October; the long mild shoulder seasons give more usable spray days than most states get
Ventana de aplicación: May and September — fall is the knockout window for perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: Broadleaf work in May–June and again in September; the September pass is the one that holds, because the weed is moving reserves down
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October, and never above 90°F — centipedegrass is sensitive to 2,4-D both at spring green-up and in summer heat
Ventana de aplicación: Early to mid-June, then late August into September, which is the pass that actually holds on perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; skip sprays on drought-stressed summer fescue
Ventana de aplicación: April–early June and September–October; avoid herbicides above 90°F
⚖️ Suits the St. Augustine lawns common on the Gulf Coast, and the label permits bermuda as well. What it will injure is bahiagrass and the cool-season grasses, so a mixed lawn is the case to check. Confirm local stock — the label excludes Hawaii, Alaska and the US territories, but not Texas.
Ventana de aplicación: May and September, avoiding the intense midsummer heat on the label
Ventana de aplicación: Late May through June, then a short late-August to mid-September window. Vermont's autumn window is the narrowest in New England
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; skip sprays on heat-stressed fescue in July and August
Ventana de aplicación: April–May and September–October; WSU caps applications at 80°F, stricter than the 85–90°F ceilings used elsewhere
Ventana de aplicación: April into May and again in September–October. Skip July and August: this is transition-zone country and a heat-stressed tall fescue lawn absorbs the injury the weed does not
Ventana de aplicación: Early to mid-fall is the favourable window for dandelion and other perennial broadleaf weeds
Ventana de aplicación: June, then late August into September. UW's own framing is useful: a slow-release application covers a 90 to 100 day growing season, which is roughly the entire Wyoming season

Weed Control
NC State says it plainly: centipedegrass is sensitive to 2,4-D. It also wants no lime and almost no nitrogen — so the standard Southern routine is wrong three ways.

Weed Control
Common cannot take 2,4-D. Floratam cannot take atrazine. Bitterblue is weak on both. There is no St. Augustine answer until you know which one you have.

Fertilizer
Weed and feed does two jobs on two different calendars, so one bag rarely times both right. The month it works, and the lawns the label forbids.

Grass Types
St. Augustine grass care: mow high, watch for chinch bugs, and know it cannot be seeded — only sod, plugs or sprigs. Plus the herbicides that damage it.

Grass Types
St. Augustine vs zoysia comes down to two questions: how much shade, and how much foot traffic. One tolerates each — and they are not the same grass.
