MSU names six actives that should not be used for grub control at all — and some bags sold as grub killers contain exactly those. Two molecules do the work.

What we found when we read it
Label read 2026-08-19 on EPA PPLS. EPA Reg. 92564-40, registered name 'Dylox 9.3% Insect Granules', trichlorfon 9.3%. The alternate brand names on the label include 'BioAdvanced 24-Hour Grub Killer Plus Ready-To-Spread Granules' — so the retail bag is this Dylox registration under a consumer name, and it is NOT the Dylox 6.2 professional product, which is a separate registration (432-1308). Label rate for grubs, billbugs and mole crickets is 2 lb per 1,000 sq ft; 1.33 lb for the other listed pests. The label states 'Use this product only when grubs or other listed pests are present' — curative positioning from the registrant, not our interpretation. Three restrictions worth surfacing because they are easy to breach: 'Do not apply with hand-held or chest mounted spreader', 'Water thoroughly within 24 hours after applying', and 'Do not mow until the granules are watered in and the grass has dried'. Retailer rating omitted rather than estimated.
