El ejemplo más claro de por qué «seguro para mascotas» hay que desmenuzarlo en lugar de creerlo. Dos problemas distintos, y ninguno tiene que ver con las mascotas. Primero, no es selectivo — el ácido acético arranca la cutícula de la hoja de todo aquello sobre lo que cae, así que mata el césped, y corresponde al pavimento y no al césped. Segundo, y menos comentado: la mezcla lleva cloruro de sodio. Los ácidos acético y cítrico se degradan rápido, pero la sal no, y las aplicaciones repetidas en un mismo punto acumulan sodio, que deteriora la estructura del suelo y dificulta cultivar cualquier cosa allí más adelante — algo relevante si estaba tratando el borde de un parterre que piensa plantar. Además tiene la valoración de clientes más baja de los pulverizadores comercializados para mascotas que listamos. What we found when we read it
Correctly carries NO EPA registration number: this is a FIFRA section 25(b) minimum-risk pesticide, exempt from federal registration. What that means for a reader is worth stating, because 'EPA exempt' reads like a safety endorsement and is closer to the opposite: EPA has NOT reviewed this product's label, its claims or its efficacy. The exemption is granted on the ingredient list, not on evidence that the product works. So there is no label to check and no approved claim to hold it to, which is why our review of it rests on what the chemistry can physically do rather than on any label promise. Ingredients — acetic and citric acid, sodium chloride, glycerin, clove oil — are all on EPA's permitted 25(b) lists, and the manufacturer states the product is 25(b) exempt. Verified 2026-08-03 as far as it can be: there is no EPA record to check for an unregistered product, so the exemption claim is the manufacturer's.
