The product Alabama Extension's own kudzu control table lists by name, at the strength that table gives — 8.8% triclopyr amine.

Our Verdict

This is the least glamorous recommendation on the site and one of the best supported, because we are not the ones making it. Alabama Cooperative Extension's residential kudzu publication carries a table of retail products, and this one is on it under its former Bayer Advanced name at triclopyr amine 8.8% — the same registration (EPA 92564-6) that BioAdvanced sells today, registered as 'Triclopyr 8.8% Concentrate Herbicide'. Their foliar figure is 4 oz per gallon treating 500 sq ft, and 100% undiluted for a cut stump. What you are buying is the amine salt of triclopyr at a strength that makes a 32 oz bottle cover eight gallons of finished spray, which is roughly a tenth the cost per treated area of a ready-to-use jug of the same chemistry. The trade is that you mix it yourself, in gloves, on a job where the plant you are treating is the reason you are wearing gloves. Note it is chemically identical in active and strength to the Fertilome bottle we also review — buy whichever is cheaper the day you look.

✅ Pros

  • The product Alabama Extension's residential kudzu table lists by name, at 8.8% triclopyr amine
  • Extension's own rates: 4 oz per gallon foliar, 100% undiluted for cut stumps
  • About a tenth the cost per treated area of the same chemistry sold ready-to-use
  • 4.3 across 4,792 Amazon ratings

⚠️ Cons

  • Mixing and measuring on a job where you are already handling a plant you do not want to touch
  • Chemically identical to the Fertilome 8.8% bottle here — no reason to own both
  • Non-selective on broadleaf plants: it kills desirable shrubs and vines it contacts
  • Amine salt rather than ester, so it is less effective on thick bark than a basal-oil ester treatment

Where our facts come from

Label read on EPA's label database

Read the label yourself →

We opened this product's accepted label on EPA's own Pesticide Product Label System — the strongest source available for what a product is registered to do.

What we found when we read it

EPA PPLS registry record read 2026-08-02: registered product name 'TRICLOPYR 8.8% CONCENTRATE HERBICIDE', EPA Reg. 92564-6, active ingredient triclopyr triethylamine salt 8.8%, with BIOADVANCED BRUSH KILLER PLUS CONCENTRATE and BAYER ADVANCED BRUSH KILLER PLUS CONCENTRATE among its alternate brand names — which is how it ties to the row in Alabama Extension ANR-2168. Registration transferred from Bayer Advanced 2017-03-27. The rates quoted in this record are Alabama Extension's published figures for this product, not readings from the label PDF; the full label text has not been read, so no site or restriction claim here rests on it.

Where this page and the container disagree, the container wins — the label is the legal authority on rates and restrictions. How to read one yourself.
