The Costs Nobody Prints on the Box

The purchase price is not the price. UF/IFAS’s robotic mower publication documents the consumable this category actually has: the cutting blades are small — “under 1.5 inches” — and “blades should be replaced every six to eight weeks during the growing season.” That is three to five blade sets a season, every season.

The same publication lists the site problems that surface after purchase: irrigation heads that can stop and damage a mower, lightning risk at the dock, fire ants drawn to the electronics, and the wear ellipse the dock leaves in the turf. None of these is disqualifying. All of them belong in the decision, and none of them appears in a launch-week review.
